The Challenge
RMR Architecture designed from scratch a retired couple’s NYC retreat. The couple has an extensive art collection that we needed to take into account. Our solution was to create a loft-like residence where the couple could grow old without concerns. We provided room to accommodate friends, family, and even overnight guests. The muted palette of sophisticated colors and exquisite materials were combined with the perfect amount of detailing. This included a rounded corner on the art alcove base cabinet at the entrance to the bedroom to avoid painful dings to the legs and a curb-less shower in the head of household bathroom for convenience of getting in and out of the shower. These are just a few of the layout and detail choices we made to help both meet and exceed our clients goals for comfortable living now and for the future.
